the story of us...

We first met...in 2004 at a random retreat up at a camp in Alberta. Mike had just finished his DTS and I was just finishing my first year of college. We were barely acquaintances after the retreat.

God spoke...to me about this man and that He had plans for us in the future. I thought that either I, or God, was crazy because knew I would probably never see this guy again. Therefore I pushed those thoughts to the back of my mind. I continued with university and meanwhile Mike had come back on staff here at Reef to Outback.

Two years later...God began to speak to me about doing a DTS. I had a heart for missions so as I was nearing the end of my degree, prayed about what that might look like. Through seeking the Lord for a number of months, I felt Him calling me here to Reef to Outback.  

We meet again...October 7th, 2006 here at RTO. I've just rocked up to do a DTS and Mike, believe it or not, is still here on staff.

God speaks again...this time to Mike. And about me, saying that I would one day be his future wife. Meanwhile, I'm on a DTS and despite the fact that feelings of attraction are growing between us, dating is not encouraged while on a DTS. To honour that, we both kept a pretty healthy distance. This basically resulted in both of us thinking the other one hardly noticed them. Yet quietly and behind the scenes, we were both taking our feelings to God in prayer. Separately and unbeknownced to the other, we were both sowing in prayer what would soon become an incredible love story.

I sensed...a call to come back on staff here at RTO and serve in missions more long term. I made plans to return on staff June 2007.

March 9, 2007...I finish my DTS. And nearly three years after God first spoke to me and ignited a longing in my heart, Mike pursues me. He asks to take me out for breakfast, and brings me to a rock on a hillside that overlooks our city. It's there where he asks for permission to pursue a dating relationship with me. We finally begin dating!!

Christmas Eve, 2007...We've been dating for nearly 10 months and there, back up on that same rock, Mike asks me to marry him!! There is a beautiful table for two set up, red roses, amazing food, a gentle breeze and an iPod containing a love song written & recorded for moi by none other than than the love of my life.

How beautiful is a love story when written by God.

Mike and I feel called to the nations, to missions and to people. We both long to use music as a way to bind the brokenhearted and are so looking forward to where God will take us when we're married.
